If you’re in employment, it’s likely you’ve been auto-enrolled into a workplace pension scheme. This is good news, as it means that you’re already saving for your financial future.

However, for some people, another type of pension might be more beneficial. We’re based in Wolverhampton and help clients across the midlands. Our pension adviser will talk you through your options, giving you all the information you need to make the right choice.

What is a workplace pension?

Auto-enrolment for workplace pensions was introduced in 2012. It means that if you’re on the pay-roll, work in the UK, earn over £10,000, and are at least 22 years old, you’ll automatically be entered into the workplace pension scheme.

You’ll contribute 5% while your employer will contribute 3%. The government also offers tax relief on the pension savings. The advantage is that you’re receiving contributions from your employer as well as yourself – which helps boost your funds for retirement.

Some people choose to keep their workplace pension, while others select to opt out. If you decide to switch your existing scheme, there are other pension products available, which may increase your retirement funds further. Our adviser is here to explain the difference between a workplace and private pension, and to help you make an informed choice about which is best for you.
